Looks like you have the action frozen . . . that's #1. I would try to position myself so that the basketball and action was coming towards me (underneath one basket - just off to one side). One rule you will always here on this site is "Faces sell".
Definitely great start! I took your photo and played around with it a bit in Lightroom--I do most of my white balance work in LR because I find it almost impossible to get right in the camera when using ambient light. So I just (1) straightened your horizon, (2) did a quick WB change; and (3) used a little noise reduction and I think it looks a little better. You might try those tricks in the future.
It would work a lot better with a full resolution picture. The focus is off a bit though, I would work on shooting with a single point, continuous focus and see if you can sharpen it up a bit. Good luck!
