Hi all,

Went to Istanbul with a new canon 550d and 15-85mm lens

I'm still quite a beginner - but would love any C&C's please.

all images have little to no post processing.

Enjoy.

These are nice shots. thumb.gif How about some narrative and/or descriptions of the images? Not sure what I'm looking at...

A lot of very nice images there, agree that some commentary or context might help. Very nice colors in the images from the market - where were you? Did you buy any tea?

I will add that several of the architectural shots have some significant distortion that could be fixed in post, and the first image, which is one of my favorites, appears to be tilted right somewhat.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Many thanks all,

Yeah you're right, i could add some running commentary that will give some more context to the pictures. Tea in istanbul is lovely!
Which architectual shots show distortion? How would i go about identifying this and fixing in post production?

    many thanks

You've got a good eye for seeing detail. I agree that a little post- could go a long way here -- straightening things up, making the right colors pop, etc.

    1) Keep taking lots of pictures and
    2) Have a look at the DPP software that I think comes with your 550. That's a good place to start with post-processing because you can do a lot, but it doesn't have too many controls, and so not as steep a learning curve.
    3) Think about using the 85 end more. You have some nice wide shots (people on the bridge is good, shop with shopkeeper) but some of your details would benefit from being a little closer-cropped. You can do that in post, of course, but it's always better to do it in camera.

    Nice stuff!
