This is an old house that Snowgirl and I found in New Brunswick. Even though it was autumn and colors were everywhere, the foliage surrounding this building was mostly green so I decided to try it in B&W. These were processed first in Aperture and then in Silver Efex Pro. They are the same basic adjustments but with some tonal differences from two different Silver Efex presets.
The last picture is a halter I found hanging in an old barn in Maine. It was obviously well used once upon a time, but it looked rather sad and lonely hanging there.
C&C appreciated. Thanks, Lauren

decay, or about to fall down, I want to photograph it. Most of the time, this type of
photo works best in black and white.
I think I might have tried your shots in color, though. Black and white is most
effective when the subject stands out from the surroundings. The preponderance
of green in the building photos would have allowed the browns and blacks of the
building to be more distinctive.
Shot from low against the sky, the buildings would work in black and white.
Still, they are a good find. A "Kodak Moment" even though that phrase will
soon drop out of our vocabulary.

Lovely job with these. Would love to see these in color, too.
