A Peak District break

I got a couple of days away with the wife and got probably the last hotel room in the Peak District during half term. This is an area that almost every school boy gets dragged around in the rain at some time or other.

So I dragged DW up Jacobs Ladder and onto Kinder Scout for a walk around in the rain and fog. Not really the weather for getting a camera out but I took a couple of shots when I dared get the camera out.

This was shot at 10mm, the effect is impressive, making the valley much shallower than in reallity.

The view from the top is spectacular but the only chance I had to get a shot was this, overlooking The Mermaid Pool.

The next day was beautiful but we decided not to stay lower down in Castleton

It was great to get a couple of days away, even if I did drive 600 miles

Cheers

Very beautiful shots, Stan. October is a nice time to get away. Usually nice and quiet. Looks like a lovely place to visit. Thanks for sharing.

    Fantastic
I'm living in Paris at the present and just took a job in England that I start in a couple weeks. Where exactly is all this? 600 miles... sounds like you drove around most of England. Well Amazing pictures... you've inspired me!

Thank you James. The location for the shots can be found here by clicking the map this icon at the top right of the page. (a really neat feature of Smugmug ang Google).

I love all of them, but the shot at dusk really stand out. Especially since the lighted building is starring straight at you when you scroll down to look at the picture. Great work on all the photos!
