Evening all, hope everyone here is well.
Well it's been quite some time since I posted some shots in here as I've not had a great deal of time for photography. Redundancy, application for new job (successful by the way, I start on the 27th) and the little'un taking up a lot of my time on my rest days (I work shifts) and so on...
However, I decided to do some more Oil and Water shots (did a few quite some time back). Bit of Corn oil on some water in a jug, CD placed underneath and a lamp above moved around to give different lighting. Lighting from the lamp was diffused using a reflector as it was causing an imprint of the bulb in the bubbles.
Here are the results. Colours are all natural with the exception of the last one which was run through a Roscoe Gel Filter in Tiffen DFX. Other processing includes cloning out of quite a few sneaky fibres that got in there, some unsightly bubbles, sharpening and a bit of noise reduction.

I don't but it's simply a case of get the camera positioned over a glass container such as a jug or flat based bowl. Put a CD directly under it or even a few inches below it (if you put the container on a stand of some sort). Position a lamp above and at maybe a 45 degree angle or similar. Get your oil and water in and have a nose through the view finder or on the screen if you have live view.
Here's some guys setup. My lamp was higher and the jug actually sitting on the CD but try different techniques

In fact, As I landed the golden ticket of be made redundant, get my 9 years service severence pay AND land a new job that starts two days later... I'll be getting myself a 7D and highly likely a Canon 100 very soon (not sure if I'll be getting the L.... VERY tempted.. )
I nice little trip out would be just what I need to give the new toys a test. Will be getting those in about 3 or 4 weeka.
