When I first arrived at the Great Blue Heron nests in the Viera Wetlands this morning, a male was in the nest. A few minutes later the female arrived and the male flew off. For the next 40 minutes I watched the male repeatably try to return to the nest, but the female keep chasing him away. I have never seen that behavior before.......

I am assuming that this male is an intruder and not her mate, thus the reason for her chasing him away.

Nice set Ira. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. He makes repeated attempts to land on the nest but is always rebuffed by the female. He just keeps on trying every day hoping that he will get lucky. Today after one rebuff he tried another nest with the same result.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
