Hoar Frost - C&C

The fog was thick this morning but the temperature was well below freezing (-10C). Those are idea conditions for the creation of hoar frost - those gorgeous ice crystals that form on twigs and trees lending an eerie glow as the sun comes up. Considering the temperatures we had a few days ago (-30C or worse with windchill) I decided to take advantage of the balmy opportunity. :wink

Never let it be said that I give up so, armed with my MPE-65f/2.8 on the 1DMKIV and balanced on a monopod to minimize camera shake, I waded knee deep snow out to the bushes in my back yard. Here is what I found.

1. single twig

2. one of seven shot for a focus stack

3. the end result focus stack. There is quite a bit of ghosting and I haven't yet learned how to go back in and fix that. Playing with the trial version of Zyrene stacker.
