Filters "Stuck" - How To Fix?

First of all I hope I have this in the correct place.

I just got a two promaster filters (uv/polarizing) and carefully placed the polarizing filter on the uv filter on the lens. Initially it never "locked" in/tightened. I tried to take it off later and it just kept turning and turning (loosely). Not sure how to get these separated as it isn't locked down stuck, but stuck on the other lens. Don't need the polarizing filter all the time.

Thank you in advance and I hope I am making sense...alittle frustrated. :scratch

Try putting a rubber ban on to see if you can get a grip. You might need two of those things you use in the kitchen to get lids off and the have to clean the filters later.

The polarizing filter is split in two and the outer side is "designed" to rotate so that you can set the proper angle (with respect to the light source) to give you the proper polarization effect.

As "Travel" says, a wide rubber band can give you a bit of extra "grip" or "purchase" on the inner ring of the polarizer, possibly helping to separate the two filters.

Camera stores often have a filter wrench to assist in the removal of stuck filters. You can also purchase a filter wrench (or 2) from Adorama or B&H:

    http://www.adorama.com/SearchSite/Default.aspx?searchinfo=Filter+wrench
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=filter+wrench&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

Do make sure to purchase the proper diameter to fit your filter size.

I use the strap of a G9 because is smaller for stuck filters. It works all the time. Try the strap of your camera, place it around the filter and hold it tight and turn the lens
