Apple iPod Touch 1st Generation 16 GB - Has issues - But Works!

Hello,

I bought this iPod Touch, "knowing" there were a couple issues:

(1.) The glass screen has a crack in it, yet the "surfaces" are so "cleanly"
aligned/matched, that you can "barely" feel the crack.

(I was considering applying a piece of tape over the crack, then decided not to as I thought,
it might affect the "touch screen working"?)

(2.) Charging issue.

The previous owner/seller indicate that the charging connector (the USB
connection), was "bad", and in order to get the iPod to charge, you needed to "bend and apply firm pressure against it,
in order for the contact to meet and work properly.

That is true. I was able to forcibly "apply" strong pressure against the USB
cable end, to the iPod port, and it took a full 100% charge.

I believe the right person could "fix this" relatively easy, but I was not going to disassemble it and attempt it myself,
but have since acquired a new/different iPod Touch.

Any questions - please contact me.

Will be sold, "AS-IS", "AS-DESCRIBED", working, with 100% disclosure of the issues with it explained.

No Warranties: Expressed or Implied - No Returns

Asking: $ 100.00

Thanks for looking,

Have a nice day,

Ed

I am in the hunt for a first gen iPod, but the charging issue could be a deal breaker... The iPod will plug into a car stereo and stay put in the console - do you have to adjust the USB chager repeatedly?

    Hello,

Well. I know once I got it from the lady I bought it from, I had to do "exactly" as she describe, "twist and bend" - sort of lightly, back-and-forth, until finally the iPod would start charging.

What I "tried to do", once I had the iPod charging, was to wrap the USB cable to the iPod with rubber band, to hold it into "contact" position, until it reached fully charged.

Hope this helps.. (I personally think if someone dared to separate the unit, and looked it over, it would be a relatively "easy fix".)

    Thanks,

    Ed

Thanks for the fast reply; I'm not interested in a project, but was hopeful that once contact was made you could just leave it on the counter to charge - sounds like that's not quite the case.

Good luck in the sale of the unit.
