I get what you're doing... and I suppose a couple might like it... maybe a little vignette would help... Not overly crazy about the ties... the fraying on them bugs me... I'm thinking the rings a bit closer... lose the ties maybe add a ribbon or a piece of celery...something/anything else in there...
I agree with you...the space needs something...
