I have a picture that I want to print life size. It is a 14.25" platter on a background that I want to print on a 20x20" thin wrap. I am getting a little stumped by the process so I figured I would ask. The questions I have are the following and from there I think I can figure the rest of it out:
  1. How many DPI does Bay Print at?
  2. Do I need to leave a bleed for it to be wrapped around the outside?
  3. Is there an easy way to set up a process to do this in Lightroom 3 or Photoshop CS5?

The image I am thinking of printing:

Thanks for the help

    Hi Brad,

    1. Just upload the photo in the largest size you have it. You really don't have to worry about DPI. I can't say what specific DPI the printers use for that size, sorry.

    2. Yes, you can see a preview of it when you add the product to your cart.

    3. I don't think any specific process is needed. You just upload the shot in the largest size you have it, add it to your cart and double check the wrap before placing the order.

Yes, and you can see how that looks, here:

As Seb said, don't upres or change your file - upload the max amount of original pixels, add it to the cart, and if you want to crop, you can do so in the shopping cart. Here's what you'll see, and the blue overlay shows you the part that will be wrapped:

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the video and page you referenced didn't tell me much about the amount of space I need to leave. However if I did all my math right (ratios of platter diameter to background and then compared it to 20" and then left a little for folding over, well it should be close to the 14.25" We shall see. Just one more pass for noise and the like before hitting print...

Brad - leave ALL the space. Use the cropping tool to make it how you want, while you're in the shopping cart. Pretty simple if you ask me and you don't fuss around in LR.

I have some edits/cleanup to do in LR/PS as I am looking at it a little closer. So to keep the area of interest in mind I have cropped it to square in LR. But I appreciate what you are saying.

Oh keeping the square crop in LR is fine fine... just don't get too fussy about exact cropping, and do that in the cart, pleasing your eye.

Just to close the loop. The print arrived today. The platter is a little larger on the print than the one in real life. However the three colors of the beans are distinct which I am very very happy about. Tomorrow is a trip to the Wakarusa Dime Store to get more samples to verify against but the wife and I think it is pretty much right on.
