I finally managed to convince my wife to let me build my dslr arsenal promising her lots of photos of our daughter. Here's my first attempt with the Rebel XT kit lens, help of the sunlight through the windows, and my lovely wife as my assistant as she held up a comforter in the back as a "background".

I think it was a good 1st stab using what we had on hand lol.:rofl

Now I need to convince her with a Speedlite and a new lens I can take BETTER pictures. :wink

Here she is:

-Carey

Canon EOS Rebel XT, EF-S 18-55, EF 50 1.8 II, Tamron AF 19-35 3.5-4.5, EF 24-70 f/2.8L, EF 70-200 f/4L, Speedlite 580EX, Manfrotto Digi Mini 718B.

Thank you both for the kinds comments.

Certainly a new baby will do the trick,rolleyes1.gif but also showing her all you fine photographers work and saying "SEE this? If I get good enough we can make pictures like these!"

But she did ask..." How can you make those shadow on the blanket go away?" Boy she didn't want to hear my answer :D

    What a darling little girl!

Great picture, but I feel it's cropped a little too tight. (the fingers)

Thanks for sharing her with us.

That's the result of my "rookie status" come into play. I was trying not to take my wife holding up the blanket, only now to realize I could have shot it wider then used PS to crop out what I didn't want shown. I was trying to do too much in camera if that makes sense.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions!

Nice work with the lighting. Beautiful baby, too! Now you need more glass, haha.
