Speed Cycling (PW's)

Does this mean what I hope it means? Using Mini TT1 and Flex TT5s:

SpeedCycler with an AC3 ZoneController:
Previously only seen with our MultiMAX radios, this new mode is designed to rapidly cycle through multiple flash units fired individually in sequence. This allows you to fire a camera in sync with flashes faster than a single flash can recycle. It can also be used for triggering remote cameras sequentially. SpeedCycler is engaged on a transmitting MiniTT1 or FlexTT5 via the PocketWizard Utility. It is an advanced mode.
SpeedCycler mode requires an AC3 ZoneController in the top shoe of the on-camera PocketWizard radio. Zones A, B, and C will be triggered sequentially and individual zones can be disabled by setting the AC3’s Zone Switch to the off position. Both TTL and manual flash are supported.

I think it says I can fire a burst of three shots, and the AC3 will sequentially fire three different speedlights. SO with SB600s and SB800s, I could fire a burst of three shots at (say) 1/2000th sec and get threehigh-powered flashes using Auto FP High Speed Synch Mode. Then I'd have to wait a few seconds 'till they recycled, and then I could do it again.
Am I reading this right?

I did not know that. I just tried it out and it works greatclap.gifclapclap.gifclapclap.gifclapclap.gif

Don't forget to check the Advanced checkbox in the Pockwizard utility, then you will find the setting under the Misc tab. You have to set it in all units, not just the one on camera

BTW I tried it on my 7D with eTTL on and I can't don't think it was running that full frame rate of the high speed repeat (7 fps), but it definately was running faster then the normal repeat speed.

Of course depending on the output you set you might not need to wait for the flashes to recycle. And if waiting for recycle was an issue you could rent some extra speedlites and put mulitple in each group to shorten the recycle time.

I'm really glad that you read the manual instead of just poking at things like I often do.:D

    Thanks for pointing this out.thumb.gif
