Long post, lots of "ifs" and variables...just a warning
Context:
I shoot a graduation ceremony for a karate school every six months and the most important part of the night is when 80-someodd students receive their degree of Black Belt. In the past, I sit in the center of the pit (shot in an auditorium) and snap off two shots before the next student is called up. There is about a 8-12 sec gap between students where I am not shooting.
Idea/Problem:
Ok so I have thrown around this idea with the founder of the studio (who's hiring me directly) of having my images be put up on the projector (already there for constant powerpoint of studio name) as I take them. He had originally introduced the idea saying that I do this throughout the show but I would feel more comfortable doing it just for the belt ceremony at the end of the night.
I shoot with both a Canon 450D and a 20D throughout the night and I know I can rent a transmitter from Borrowlenses for less than $40 for the event. I don't get paid enough to afford a rental of anything much more than that and still come off with a good profit but if it will make this worth it for the future then i will consider other rentals.
Now, what programs (on a Mac OS X Snow Leopard) would I need lined up for this to run smoothly, flawlessly, and beautifully? Apparently this venue was difficult to book and I have a long customer relationship with the owner of the studio so I need it to look like magic during the event. I have Lightroom 3 (hopefully will have 4 by the next event in June) and EOS Utility and VirtualBox so I do have Windows if that would otherwise restrict my options.
Now, would the Eye-Fi cards work too? could I use those on the 450D? Or should I just use the 20D and the transmitter?
There are lots of variables in this situation so I hope this makes sense but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance...
