Brian, I am speechless!! These take my breath away! Do you use extension tubes to get in this close? Absolutely brilliant! I want to be you some day! !!bowbow
Excellent shots, Brian. Fascinating structures on the ice. I have just cut off my options for the 'front lawn' by turning it into a gravel garden!
I hope to be getting the MPE-65 later this year. Are there any particular problems with it? I use a 5DM2.
Thanks Rob.
Not really any specific problems with the MPE-65 that aren't present in any higher magnification system apart from perhaps the lens does more than double it's length going from 1:1 to 5:1.
Main problems tend to be motion bluring unless you are using a tripod or flash, diffraction softening unless you open up the aperture as the mag gets higher and fairly obviously limited DOF.
Last thing is, it shows up sensor dirt like no other lens.
Just takes a bit of getting used to

CG I was using my MPE-65 lens, 2:1 magnification on #1 and I think 4:1 on the rest.

That stacking technique makes macro look so good, and your skill in using it of course.
Nice work.
