This is just a test drive of the mounting for my new toy. I am hoping to be able to try this out tomorrow night in the Colorado HS basketball second round action.

If I was in my home gym I wouldn't have any issues but we are the away team tomorrow night and I am a little worried that the home AD may have a little heartburn.

I am going to assume I have the right and proceed on my own and see if they raise any dust about it.

This is a time when the media pass I have for MaxPreps might give me a little edge.

I am not sure how to embed a video link here. If you click on the image it will play the video.

Good luck, I'm supposed to do that tomorrow with my camera! First time, bought a magic arm just for that purpose, asked both head coaches if they minded, never heard back from AD about it. Coaches will prolly have the last say.. not AD.

One thing that is very typical is using a scrim to get rid of reflections... small pieces of black cardboard around the gopro touching the backboard will help get rid of whatever sign that is reflecting on back of the board...

    Jim,

I thought about a gobo but I am trying to make the cam as unnoticeable as possible to not have coaches think that the camera could distract the shooters.

The gobo seemed to be more of an eyesore.

I definitely see reflections in my test video.

Good luck with that, I was shot down by the head coach today to have it done. They don't want to hang anything on their backboard. Guess I have to wait till sectionals...

    Jim,

Bummer. I didn't have any issues at all. My setup worked really well I think. I haven't actually looked at the video yet but everything went well on the setup and working with the ADs. I will post the results tomorrow.

Here is video form last nights game. My video editing skills are nearly non-existent so I don't have a professional product yet.

Here is a shot of my mount on the basketball standard. I have the GoPro2 Outdoor edition and that includes a head strap mount. I just made some adjustments in the head strap mount to work around the support pole.

I'd suggest using the LCD backpack to frame it then take it off to save battery.

    Great idea!
