We attended your show yesterday and we liked it very much. Your photos were well displayed and you certainly got a great space for them.
My wife and I especially liked your B&W work. We both think you should do more in B&W. You have mentioned in your blog about looking for another way to approach making photos of Marblehead and B&W would be one way of doing so. Maybe a combination of B&W and long exposures of the water. I have been thinking of doing some of this. Two photographers work I like a lot is built around this type of shooting (http://www.steendoessing.com and http://www.xavifuentes.com). Another thought about shooting in Marblehead for this time of year would be studies, maybe closeups, of people getting their boats ready for the sailing season: hands, wenches, lines, pulleys, rigging, etc. Since you have done such a great job of covering the wider shots with your Wednesday series maybe some photos that concentrate on all the great details of Marblehead would be interesting.
Following looking at your show we went to the Peabody Essex Museum to see the Jerry Uelsmann exhibition. My wife is a fan of his work. While I admire his skills in the darkroom, I am not as much a fan as she of the final product. I find I do not care too much for composition type works. But, he sure can put together a well exposed print. I recommend this show to anyone who is going to be in the Salem, MA area. The show runs through July 15, 2012.
Thanks Knapp - for visiting the show, the great comments and suggestions.
I've actually been doing a lot more b/w long exposure lately. I've become active on G+ and have found some incredible photographers there whose work has really inspired me.
Specifically: Joel Tjintjelaar at http://www.bwvision.com/ and Nathan Wirth http://www.nlwirth.com/
