ProShow Web question

I'm not totally sure where to post this, or if it's even a Smug issue (my apologies if it isn't, but I haven't received a reply from the ProShow people yet and Smug people are so friendly and helpful so I thought I'd try here :)... I'm interested in trying out the ProShow Web/Smug connection and have found it impossible to import any photos from Smug. I can get to the point where I click on Import Photos> SmugMug and it brings up my galleries and I choose some photos and click Import. Then it acts like one photo is Importing and others are Pending, but they all quickly disappear, nothing actually gets imported and I'm left with an empty show. The exact same thing happens no matter if I approach it from ProShow Web first or if I go to a Smug gallery and try Create a Video. I've wondered if the files were too large, but I thought ProShow would resize if needed? Any ideas?

    Hi Elaine,

Can you try it again? In your SmugMug control panel > settings tab > authorized applications, ProShow had "add" permissions and I'm not sure that's correct. I changed the permissions to "read" instead and hopefully that'll do the trick.

If you still have an issue, what specific gallery did you try it with last? If you don't want to post the link in a public forum, contact our HelpDesk with details:

Hmmm...just tried it again and got the same results. I'm just using this small gallery as I wanted to see how it would work.

    Hi Elaine,

I tried it on my account. How do you try to add photos? When you're in the ProShow create screen, in the "imaginary" tab, look at the bottom for the imaginary tools > import photos option. Click on that and select SmugMug. You may have to click on login to get connected to your SmugMug account. Then you can choose from your different galleries and select photos to import. I just tried this on my account and it worked.

By the way, the permissions setting I changed yesterday, I now set back to the add permission as that seems to be correct.

Here's what I do (it sounds just like what you did):
In the Imagery tab on ProShow Web, I click on Import Photos and select SmugMug.
    Login to Smug.
Choose a gallery and choose photos.
    Click Import.
Here's where it gets wonky. It goes back to the Imagery tab (correct) and displays slides representing each photo that should be uploading (sounds good). I just tried it with 5 photos, so 5 empty slides show up. The first slide on the left says "Importing" and the remaining slides say "Pending." Very quickly, as soon as it shows the 5 slides, they start disappearing from right to left (starting with the "Pending" slides). In about 6 seconds, all 5 slides are gone and it goes back to saying "Your show is empty. Click Add photos & videos or Add text to add stuff to your show."
It acts like the files are too large to process or something, but it doesn't give me any sort of error message, the pics just do not load.

Because of this trouble, I went ahead and downloaded the free trial of ProShow Gold along with the LR plug-in. If I can't use the PS Web version with Smug, I thought it would be great to try the Gold version and be able to upload directly from LR. The plug-in keeps giving me an error and won't load anything beyond one photo.

I'd really like to try ProShow, but at this point, the benefits of using it are diminishing for me!

I went in and completed the process of creating a video with photos from my SmugMug site. Not sure why it's not working for you.
What browser do you use? I just tried it on Firefox on a Mac (last time I used Firefox on Windows).

You could try removing ProShow from the SmugMug control panel > settings tab > authorized applications. After removing it, try importing photos from SmugMug again and ProShow should ask you for authentication with your SmugMug account again.
