(disclaimer - let's not let this degenerate into a political fighting match. My only intent here is to hone photojournalism skills)
Well I decided to attend the rally that was held in Los Angeles at 5PM yesterday to see what was in store and to exercise the trusty D70.
Between then and now I've learned from news reports that there were protests held in most major cities around the US. The date of 11/2 was selected as it marks the anniversary of George Bush's reelection in 2004.
Here, there were thousands of people (I was shocked), THOUSANDS!!! Every color, creed, nationality and age group seemed to be represented. The vast majority were young people and I assume many were students from the nearby UC campus.
While the overpowering message was anti-war, anti-Bush; what I found surprising was the message was strongly anti-Government. No one was spared in this protest, and everyone in Washington was blamed for the state of affairs our country is in.
This was a call for an end to corporatists and Facscists running our country.
Celebrities (this is LA afterall) and politicians, Democrat and Republican alike, were on-hand to address the crowd.
The event began as a rally alongside the Federal building before becoming a two mile march through the streets of Westwood Village, home of UCLA as well as many regional corporate headquarters.
I have most images posted and more are on the way. I hope you'll visit and I welcome all comments and critiques. Thanks.
