So what did you think? MMA is really tough huh? My big critique is this. Closer! Other than that you could pull down the saturation in the red a little. Red in low light is the worst. At least for Nikon it is. All of mine completely blow out reds in low light.
John, what focal length is that? In most cases, my lens was pressed against the fence. What I've noticed is that wider focal lengths tend to show the fence, while shorter focal lengths do not. These happened to be all wider focal lengths. I'll be posting other shots with longer focal lengths which don't show the fence.

Yeah, looks can be deceiving, huh? A few of the fights surprised me. Reds do need to be pulled down. Having a red-floor in the ring was ridiculous.
You really gotta feel the vibe of the guys at the weigh ins. Pics are so hard to tell. I was right on for the fights I shot last week! For the main event, as the guys lined up for the face off the loser, dropped his eyes for a split second as they lined up. That was it. A split second tell. Not to say I am not highly superstitious or anything.
I shoot with a 70-200 2.8. So nothing ultra-wide. That could be causing the issue you're having. But I would suggest that for most of your shots the ultra-wide is working against you anyway - even without the cage as the action is filling such a small portion of the frame. Using a longer focal length should help correct both problems.
Your pre-fight shots are great - well done. I'm guessing it's the action photography that you're new too. Shoot tighter and you'll see a marked improvement in your action shots.
Thanks again, John. I shot with two cameras, one of which was the 5DMKII with the 70-200 F2.8. No fence showing on those shots. Lesson learned. You'll see a few of those coming up.

My guess is the dude on the left. I just caught this before I looked at your latest post. Lets see if I am right.

Red starts out with a kick, Blue dodges.
Blue takes the fight to the mat.
Red gets up and seems more in his element.
Blue's body language tell's it all.
Red Wins
