Hi Dears,

Just built a new lovely computer (solid state drive and liquid cooling system) be jelous, be very jelous....

anyhow, I'm uploading stuff and on trying to upload pictures to my smugmug site I had to download java... since that, when ever I try to upload it says web site causes i.e. to close and will not restore.

I'm using Windows 7 - can't think whats happening...seems it was Java that made it all unhappy...

any clues?

Lynn

    Hello Lynn,

Have you run all of your system updates yet? There have been quite a number of updates for IE9, this sounds like an earlier build of IE9. My primary system is a Win 7 x64 Ultimate build and I remember IE9 doing this early on. Does this problem happen with Chrome and Firefox as well?

Hi Ryan, thanks for getting back so soon. No, I installed IE9 yesterday, have'nt tried with Chrome, desperately trying NOT to download every single thing in the universe on my beautiful new system rolleyes1.gif

I also have Win 7 x64. funnily, I'm having some other issues, automatic updates don't update, had to do them manually, smugmug upload web page was fine until I downloaded java... ya know? I have no flash player... have'nt done that yet, could that be it I wonder... I'll check and see if it works with Chrome. I'm trying not to make things worse :D

Well, it's fixed :D. Java updated it'self this morning and I downloaded Adobe Flash and presto... all is well. Although, I can't drag and drop, have to use "open" to load.

    Have a great day!

Andy speaks truth. It also comes in handy for troubleshooting, you can very quickly determine if a problem you are having is unique to the browser (for example, with a recent add-on like a toolbar or pop-up blocker) or if the problem is site-wide (anti-malware program, windows update etc).

Having spent the last 10+ years in tech support I keep copies of nearly every major browser in one vmware installation or another...I think I have a problem rolleyes1.gif
