I love my Nikkor 50mm 1.8 but I feel restricted with it from time to time when shooting in a situation where I dont have a lot of room to back away from a subject so Ive been wanting to get something new. I like the Nikkor 35mm but just wondering if there are any other awesome lenses I need to look at first. I do not have 1200 dollars to spend. I like that the Nikkor is >200

I have no experience out side of Nikkor glass :rolleyes

This would be for portraiture if that helps any and I shoot a Nikon D80

I've had the Sigma 30 f/1.4 and didn't find it to be much better than the 35 f/1.8 Nikkor. The Nikkor is an excellent lens but is generally considered to be a bit too wide for portraits. Still, if you need something wider than the 50 it's the best bang for the buck at such a low price. I, on the other hand, needed even wider so mine is up for sale: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=215591

Here are some samples with the 35 f/1.8:

nice plug hahaha. If tomorrow was pay day I would probably take you up on your sale but Ill have to wait till next week and see where things are at after bills are taken care of.

But if you do still have it Ill probably end up taking it off your hands :)

I know I love my 35mm 1.8. Another possibility in that price range is the 40mm 2.8 micro, but that might not be wide enough for you.
