Caterpillars Everywhere!

So I took the macro lens out on the patio to see what I could find...

In the tree just in front of my balcony... a colony of caterpillars...




I wanted to get closer... saw this branch hanging down... it had a couple caterpillars on it...


Where there is a will there's a way... got a broom, pulled it over and hung it on an old staple...


and the caterpillars came...











Then back they went... to their sleeping spot for the evening...



...among the casings of their last molt.


I have a feeling we'll be seeing lots of cocoons soon and then lots of new butterflies!!

... came home from work last night to find they had chopped all the trees in the complex. This is all that's left of the tree my caterpillars were in... I was so sad.



...this morning as I was leaving for work I noticed that a sole survivor had made it to the eves!! Yay!! I will keep my eye on this little guy... naming him Nemo!


... tonight when I came home... a second survivor has joined Nemo!! Yay!! Perhaps not all is not lost and the caterpillar story will go on. I'm hoping there are other survivors.
