Good Evening Folks,
I was about to purchase a refurbished Canon 5D2 from the Canon Direct Store for $1759. When I started to check out, sales tax ($106.51) was added to my order. In the past, I've never paid sales tax from any purchase I have made from B&H, J&R, Adorama, etc. Is this something new, or has CDS always charged sales tax ? Thanks in advance :thumb
Have a good evening :D

In most states, if the company has a physical presence in
your state, sales tax is collected. Some states have arrangements
with vendors that require them to pay sales tax even if there
    is no physical presence.

Companies like B&H have no physical presence (stores or
branch offices) in your state, so they are not required to
    collect sales tax.

Canon has offices in Rockville MD. They are following the
    requirements of Maryland.
