#2 is my vote.

I feel it captures you right away and draws you in. #1 has too much around it.

Neither.
Crop the bottom off the original make it a pano, crop right above that out of focus big leaf in the middle.

The reason the crop looks better is because the subject has somewhere to go oppossed to the original where it looks to be more stuck in the corner. Might just be be but I really like the image to have scene. Otherwise it is just simply a frog.

Go with the crop.
