I have to order a new flash because sigma wants 72$ to fix my 18 month old sigma 500 DG super. I am not going to pay half the price of the flash to fix it when it didn't even last 2 years. Oh well, enough complaining. I am going to order the 580 EX and was going to order the lightsphere with the portrait dome, but it doesn't look like you can get it any more. Has anyone tried to LS2PJ, and do you like it as well as the first one?

Thanks for the help, Nicole

I have both and I would say the light quality is better with the original LS2. I thought it was still available, but looked at Gary's site and it does seem to have gone.

However, he mentions a new version of the LS2PJ that has an "inverted floating dome" - yes really!

    Here's a link.

So I'm not sure if he thinks we should buy a new LS every week or what. eek7.gif Maybe if I stuff the original dome upside down into the LSPJ it will be the killer device that will totally remove the need for studio lighting.

Thanks David. I can't tell from his site if the new LS2PJ (with the dome) is available yet. When you read the description it still says that it is domeless. I don't want to order it and end up with the old one.

Here's an update from the Fongster.......

We have been getting a lot of email asking for the status of the floating domes. So here is the latest status report:
    1) I have been shooting with it and on the basis of my tests, you may notice that I have discontinued the Classic Portrait-Dome. Why? Because for portraiture indoors/outdoors, this unit is fantastic. Beautiful, softest light I've ever seen and when you think about it, it makes sense. Light passes through the dome upwards and glows within the dome. Ergonomically, because it is inverted, it doesn't add to the profile of the unit. And it's really professional looking. 2) Prototypes are in the hands of some photographers right now, and the reviews have been ecstatic. We are making a few fit adjustments as a result, but it should be in production this week. 3) PRICING - the dome is going to be $12. I will have a special mailing to registered users of the LS2PJ for 10 day discount period that will be worth checking your mail for. IF YOU OPTED OUT, or asked to be removed from the mailing list, you will not be eligible for this promotion. So the Lightsphere will be $49 with the dome, $39 domeless, and $12 for the dome after the special promotion. 4) CLASSIC Lightsphere users will also have a special promotion but only if you opted in. I will announce the special deal here, so please keep tuned to the website if you are interested in the timing of the promotion
