Huntington Beach, CA area recommendations?

Does anyone have a favorite spot they'd mind sharing in the Huntington Beach area? I'm going down tomorrow with a friend to spend a couple of days to visit some mutual friends and take some time to get in a few shots here and there. Dana Point's and the local pier are "on the list", but I'm not familiar with the area.

How far will you be 'wandering' outside or off of huntington? All of Highway 1 has amazing trails, and beaches lacing the western edge. I've caught 3 dolphins about 50 feet out just driving down the highway, and raced to the shore to capture one or two shots. Didn't have the gear I have now, or I would provide a pic.

How far will you be willing to wander? My faveorite is Topanga Canyon Area. But it's a little bit further North, by Santa Monica.

Not sure how much mobility at this point. I'm staying at the Hyatt at Beach Blvd and the PCH which is 1/2 mile from the pier so that's definitely a shoot - probably dawn one morning. My buddy was also thinking of heading South to or toward Dana Point. Just not sure if there are any "special" places along the way - it's a big coast!

I've never heard of Bolsa Chica, but I'll be sure to Google it!
