I'm usually over in the people section but it's not just my models that are gorgeous.

Meet Zephyr, the black male and Alawa, the blonde (of course) female. Both are now 11 months old and thriving at the Wolf Conservation Center (www.nywolf.org) where my wife and I volunteer.

Last June at 2 months old

They are amazing creatures. Will they live out their lives there, or will they be rehabituated to the wild somewhere?

These two are part of our "Ambassador" wolves. They are non-endangered Canadian Gray wolves and will live out their lives at the Center educating people about wolves.

The Center also cares for 20-30 crtically endangered Mexican Gray and American Red wolves who the public doesn't see. They, or their progeny, will hopefully be released someday.

Just gorgeous creatures. So, so, SO intelligent. You're a lucky man to get to know them up close and personal iloveyou.gif

ETA: I can't believe we didn't know about this place. Two summers ago I sang at the Bard Festival, and when the family came up on my free days we were looking for stuff to do - we would have LOVED to visit this place! Ah well - next time, I guess.

I agree Diva, I'm very lucky to find something so great to do. If you're ever close again, get in touch and you get a one on one personal tour of the Center.

Here's our STAR, an Arctic Gray named Atka. He's also a Diva. Poses for pictures and gets upset when the others get attention instead of him. Is he anything like you??blbl.gif

We have a wolf center up in Ely, MN and I love to visit there every chance I get. Magnificent animals! They have made a big come back in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. They are considering opening a hunt season on them very soon. :( Hope they won't, but most land owners are supporting the plan for hunting them.
