Along with what I believe to be some artificial softening, the softness of the face in particular just isn't very attractive. The image appears OOF to me, honestly.
Next time, try zooming to your maximum focal length, at least 70. Get closer, and blow out the pointless background. Furthermore, it appears you shot him from above, which includes a lot of detail in the table which I don't think you really want in a shot like this. After all of that, I'd be concerned with one eye appearing closed upon first look, because they are so tight together. At least it's an honest smile you've captured.
Also, the image is slightly titled. Slightly distracting as well.
