Ah we all have our fetish's. My wife loves playing with mud and we have hundreds of bits of baked clay around the place (actually she is rather good). Now being an evil twisted bugger like I am I have convinced her that she needs a decent way of photographing her works to send to interested parties. (so I can offload my gear to her and buy some new goodies :wink :wink )
Since I will be letting her have my D300 (Rebel) I was wondering if the 50 / 2.5 Macro would be suitable lens or should I go with something quicker without the macro? The pieces will be a max of 2 foot high by 2 foot wide with a lot of reflective coloring.
Also I would be looking at some type of flash setup and reflectors. (I know nothing about flash photography) Any suggestions as to what would be suitable setup would be appreciated?
Thanks in advance.

it is worth trying out the reflectors first with natural light-try some painted board or polystyrene foam sheets, maybe throw in some tungsten light bulbs and then work up to studio lights.
