Good sites for equipment reviews?

Anyone have any recommendations for sites for equipment reviews? Particularly if they're written by actual people.

For instance, I'm in the market for a tripod, and as an amateur I find these things can be useful (depending on the reviewer, of course).

Have you tried DPReview.com? Here's the link and there are many different type equipment forums available.

You can do a global search or look specifically under the camera brand that you shoot with.

Antonio, I'd actually read that essay on the luminous landscape (and the one they had on tripods). I think I've done a reasonably good job of escaping equipment envy/angst so far, but I think a tripod would be a reasonable purchase (even if I use it with my point-and-shoot).

Very insiteful!! Many folks seem to develop equipment lust, frequently over camera bodies that are annual works in progress.

A GOOD tripod is a joy forever.

It will make every shot you take with it that much sharper and better composed. And like I said, it will be useful a very long time :

That's pretty much what I've been thinking. I've got a long way to go before I'm hitting the limits of the cameras I have.

Rohirrim, that does look like a nice tripod for a reasonable price.

On the tripod / ballhead - don't skimp. A good one will be with you a long time and make taking pictures more of a pleasure.
