Dave wanted dramatic and intense. So that was the theme.
This guy really had a dry personality so this was definitely the right theme for him.
He is a triathlete in crazy shape. He needed 1 head shot and 1 from the waist up that showed his physique.
For me this is new stuff, I very rarely shoot guys, so really good practice.
We shot for an hour and ended up with 60 potentials. He has narrowed it down to these.
I will include the one from yesterday in this group so you can see them all.
Considering what I started with, this ended up really well.
All natural light with the 70-200 2.8.

For modelling I think 1&2 are fantastic!!

Something about 3 doesn't work for me, but can't put my finger on exactly what it is - something to do with his mouth/teeth, but.. ne_nau.gif

As always, light and treatment are super thumb.gif

All very strong shots, but #2 is a bit cheeseball for my taste. If he's trying to show off his physique, sports clothes make more sense than coat, jeans and no shirt.

    Appreciate the comments.
Yes he had a very small window of "looks/angles" that worked for him and especially for the dramatic/intense look we were going for.
You may have notice these are all from the same angle.
Sport clothes, would not have suited the look we were going for.

I agree. You did a really nice job and the post work has also been handled well.

FWIW- if my abs looked like that id wear my jacket that way too!

And I have a new respect for the in shape people of this world. I have been using the "my fitness pal" and "couch to 5k" phone apps to try and get a handle on this 44 year old mess. I also began cycling last year. The extra lbs come off slowly but surely. Without a dout, a body like youve photographed here doesnt come easy.

In my opinion (maybe wrong according to others) but on the first photo maybe just a little more light to pop the his left eye out a little more. Just seems off a little.

    But otherwise, very awesome shot!
