Seward Highway Spring Rock Climbing!
I was finally able to escape the slow killing of work and get outside. And what a wonderful few days it has been! Oh, and the weather said it was going to snow.
Ah a Seward Highway belay. Pat Rinehart holding the rope.
But first we tried this mess. Typical highway junk. Were pretty sure the bottom of this route fell off. Pat is down climbing without gear because all the rock was so bad he couldn't put any in.
Dave Arnett on Vanilla Ice. A fun 5.10a/b with some tricky moves in the middle.
Some interesting moves at the top
The end of the day is always great to spend on Sunshine Ridge. a run 4-5 pitch 5.7-5.10a, depending on where you start.
The next day we headed out to Redgate. A surprisingly enjoyable area with relatively solid rock. Although a big block was pulled down, thankfully I decided to move the belay so I could sit and watch the water go by.
More vehicle to climber proximity.
I was hoping for a fall around here...nothin'...
Although this move looked a little awkward.
Rochelle headed up next.
The knee to hand mantle bar?
Mmmm, roooockkk
Oh but the views! Now thats redeeming.
Turned out being quite a party. Heres Kari on her way up Accident Victem.
I also found some SMC death hangers on the wall and a few very very old bolts so a little cleanup was done. 3 bolts replaced and 6 bolts pulled. Some bolts were placed next to old ones, there gone now.
Yay Spring!
