Birding at the Sultanpur national park(Bird sanctuary)
More info about the park here

We made this trip recently. I have a D7000 with the 70-300VR lens. I know 300mm is too short for birds, but decided to give it a try. So most shots are cropped!
A few shots
I am not a birder, so no idea about the names. I guess the experts can comment?
A very rare bird in my neck of woods. Cannot fly though
More to come soon!

Look what happens. I tried to get close
closest I could get to this one
Another tight crop. I tried to flap my arms, but still could not get close enough
And this one looks like an angry bird, ready to let off its load

I think you did well. I like the first the most. I'm sure you had fun running behind our feathered friends.
Judging on pictures in various forums taken with the same lens, the 70-300mm performs better at the far end (300mm) using a tripod and VR turned off.

Thanks!
Unfortunately, it was a marsh, and tripod is not really condusive when sneaking in onto the birds walking through soft sand/mud!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
