Help with Remote Shutter Release

I just bought a Vello Freewave Plus shutter release from B&H. It has both a wireless trigger and a wired cable trigger. I set everything up and followed the (limited) instruction manual to the letter. I've gotten the shutter to trip about twice out of multiple attempts, once on single shot and once on continuous. The camera is working fine. The LED lights on both the transmitter and receiver are working. Somehow, I can't seem to get the right sequence consistently (operator error?) or they just aren't communicating consistently.

Does anyone have this system and have trouble with it? Anybody have any tips for me on using both a wired and wireless shutter release?

It seems like a very simple system but something is awry. Any help is appreciated.

Lauren

Do you have to do a menu setting? On my Pentax K7 there is a menu setting to shoot with a remote release? Just a thought.

I looked for one, Don--doesn't mean there isn't one. All that I could find in the book about the 300S was a one-sentence entry, no help at all. Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep looking.
