Did I ever mention, I hate white? The only two outfit options that covered her ample arms were white and yellow. Big Fun...

Anyway FWIW, I think I've come to the conclusion that when lighting ebony skinned people, rim lighting works really well. The last two times I've photographed folks with dark skin, the images that the faces were rim lit were my favorites.

One in the yellow outfit.

Sure with I would have had her lower hand less flat or strait on to the camera here.

I like these, Bryce. I'll bet she does too. They look very spontaneous without being snapshotty.

1 is as good as the girl can look, excellent photo.
Minor nit, take your clone tool soft brush> lighten> 10% and smooth than small double chin shadow, then soft brush> darken 10% and darken the light chin line right below the shadow to give her a nice chin line....or you could just leave as is.
Number 1 is money. Love the setup, background, light, fence in front, pose, really just a perfect shot for her.

Thanks for the positive feedback and thanks for the excellent tip. Even though pro bono work it will be worth the time for the learning experience on the chin.

    Hi Bryce,

Nice photos & my fav is #1 also.
In #2 the hot spot one the arm has some loss of detail.
It is always hard to figure out how to place the hands so it will look natural.
The pinky in #2 needs to come a bit also.

Bryce... once again... a couple of really nice shots... Everyone will love them... wonderful expressions...
    - I do like her skin better in the second image... and think I would like them both warmed up a bit more...

I'll go the other way - I hugely prefer 2 to 1, as I think it makes her look much, MUCH slimmer I also really like the smile and the post. It just works for me thumb.gif. #1 is a lovely shot, but all that froufrou on the top to me makes her look really wide...

On #2, have you thought about cloning out her upper hand? Might be a pain, but possibly worth considering...

As always, Bryce, you nail the lighting. I'm really envious of how quickly you've grown with your lighting and what a great job you do with it!!! thumb.gif

Hi Chuck, thanks for weighing in!

Yellow and white are always a challenge for me in bright light. In the end, I cheat for the skin.

Yeah, I know the hand placement leaves a bit to be desired. She intimated to me that she was rather proud of her nails so I did my best to work them in.

I could use a little clarification on what "come a bit" means with regards to the pinky. Thanks!

Thanks Doug, per your advice I did warm them a bit on my end and I do like em better that way too!

    Thanks

Mucho Gracias! That means a lot because skin is one of my biggest problem areas, at least in my mind.

Ha, you should of seen what that top/dress with fishnet stocking made her look like not behind the fence.

Did you notice your "tree pose"?

Re the hand. She REALLY was into her nails. I know she's going to like the fact that they were included no matter how awkward you and I think her hands are.

Thanks for the kudo's on lighting! Any of number of people here get credit for that!
