I go into costo yesterday and see they have this fancy gateway computer with good specs and 21" widescreen LCD.
here are the specs on the computer:

and here is the specs on the 21"

It sounds pretty good and all for $1450!
Any thoughts? this will be exclusively for photoshop work. my main concern is the quality of the monitor and display, I think most the other specs are fine (faster HD would be nice and not sure about video adapter).

Regarding the specs, 1GB ram might be the absolute minimum to run photoshop. When Vista comes out next year, I'd bet that just to load the OS might require ¾ of that 1GB alone, leaving little overhead for PSCS3 or editing room for ever-larger photo files and layers. I would suggest 2GB. Many people run with more than 2GB these days.
If you ever decide to go with multiple HD's and multiple optical drives, and attach a few devices onto USB cables, you might also want to look into what the power supply specs are on that machine. Anything under 480watts and basic cooling is asking for trouble.
