Salt Water Mist?

Just returned from an 18 day trip to the South Island of New Zealand. I found myself in many situations where I was exposed to a continuous mist of salt air and could not keep the salt spray off my lens. I tried several techniques ranging from carrying a wet rag in a zip lock bag to a small bottle of lens cleaner. Nothing seemed to work to keep my lens free of the salt water mist. What do you folks use to keep salt spray off your lens?

I have purchased a sacrificial UV filter to protect my lens in all conditions. Still have to clean as needed by less likely to damage the expensive glass surfaces.

I too had a UV filter on my lens but could not figure a way to wipe off the salt mist with out leaving the salt smear. Any other suggestions?

A soft chamois can help, as can a small bottle of lens cleaner and a micro fibre cloth.

I keep several 12 x 15 inch micro-fibre cloths in my camera bag. A bag of 50 or so is about $13 or so.

Have you tried an alcohol wipe?

Thanks , I will try small pieces of the micro fiber cloth, lens cleaner and as a back up the alcohol wipes.
