Another Don with a collection of stringed instruments! :D Mine is mostly a former collection. Few left, sadly...

I like both shots, but favor the first.

Ooo, just noticed the Hammer Dulcimer in the first one's BG. I have one of those in my attic. It is worthless, being delaminated and all the strings (mostly) broken, but it was the family heirloom of a friend of mine and sat too long in a basement near a burner! Truly sad. :(

Thanks, Don. I've played music at coffee houses and festivals for many years and I've played all of these, although some not very well. I think I'm through with all that now.

I think the first one needs more cowbell.

I never played much, myself. THough I ran a coffeehouse for awhile, in college.

The only instruments I play now are Jews Harp and Hambone! :D

quite interesting. I like the first one. The apples lead my eye to the saguaro and then to the banjo in the second but I can't make out the banjo as well and the poor saguaro is headless! :)

Thanks, Eia. I kind of like the beheaded saguaro.

I like the second more than the first. As someone who has always babied my guitars, it pains me to see instruments on stony ground. lol3.gif. #1 looks too arranged. The single banjo in #2 is more surreal. I also prefer the composition in #2--the red of the apples leads you through the image.

Thanks, Richard. I've more or less come to the same conclusions.

I baby my Martin D-18 but I didn't take it out on this shoot.

A version of the instruments that looks less arranged:
