lensmole, it is because of the film itself (400 speed), its age, and the fact that I used Rodinal, a low speed developer usually used for ISO 100 and slower films. I am just experimenting, trying a one film, one developer path right now. I tried stand development yesterday to reduce the grain and it was a disaster. I will keep the forum posted!
i still imagine your son to look like he did on the cover of Unposed. Funny how kids seem to stay frozen in time and when you see them again you are shocked at how much they grow.
I love the joy you captured here and the composition of this shot.
I'm also a fan of the grain and kind of in awe at all your experimenting with film.
I did it once, but there is no method to my madness and I was shocked anything came out at all. It was chaos.
Hey Liz, thanks. He will be 4 in June. Soon he will be driving...
I am still only at the beginning of my film education. I mess up all the time (temperature, too much this, too little that) but when it works, it's better than anything else.
I've got a shot of my niece with her uncle with a swing. It's about time I put together a family post. Could you imagine returning to a digital workflow?

Great expressions on their faces and capture. The graininess of the photo is this because of the old film or is it intentional ?

Truly wonderful.
