I took some pics at the world's only sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. It was pretty awesome! All pics taken with a D700, 105mm VR, 50mm f/1.4 and 14-24.

This is a great set, I love sloths, it makes me want to be a volunteer there. It looks like you nailed the focus on the eyes each and every time.

Thanks! I think I am sort of developing a style that is pretty much that - sharp eyes, crisp detail. In fact, I am doing it so much I am thinking I need to start trying something different maybe.

These are so nice rookieshooter. I once saw a sloth in the wilds of the Panama Jungle, but I had no idea they had so much personality. You've captured that personality well. The HDRs are well done as well.

Wow Love these shots! so well taken.... just need to ask something, what did you use to take the shot of the random lizard??
I have many opportunities to take photos of them, but my gear is a little on the low side right now,
    Anyway great work =]

Thanks for the compliment. The lizard was shot with the 105mm f/2.8 VR Micro lens. I love it for portraits, and also for close-up work. In that shot I bounced my SB-900 off a whiteboard that was right behind the lizard (you can see it in his eye).

Nice =] ... guess ill have to get myself one of those lenses too,
A friend of mine asks me to take photos of his reptiles so getting something like that would be great!
and ye see it =] good idea, got a sb900 too great machine!
    And thank you

Well, that lens allows for pretty close photography. I think for that picture I was about 2 inches from the lizard, which is not always possible. I think Sigma makes a 180mm micro lens, so check that out as well.

The sloths are just adorable--they look so human with those smiles. And #28 looks like Yoda. Thanks for posting. Best, Pam
