Lightroom 4 Smugmug Plugin - Dealing with multiple LR Catalogs

I use a different Lightroom catalog for each year (2012; 2011; etc), and I am trying to figure out the best way to setup the Smugmug LR4 module so that some of my folders/galleries are synced between LR4 and Smugmug, but not all folders/galleries ~ because the current catalog I am working on only has a handful of the images I've uploaded to Smugmug in the past... most were uploaded from a different catalog.

After first authorizing the LR4 Smugmug module, the first thing I did was sync my galleries. It promptly begins scanning the images in my catalog, as well as the images on Smugmug, trying to find any matches.

After a long, long time of watching a slowly moving status bar indicating the sync status, it found a dozen images in my current catalog that I know I'd uploaded to Smugmug maybe a month or so ago... I clicked 'match' 12 times for each of the dozen images. Everything is fine at this point.

Here's my problem:

Then the sync status bar pops up again and it begins scanning some more. It then says it found 10 possible matches for an image on Smugmug that I'd uploaded years ago, which I know doesn't exist in the current LR catalog I am working on. It then proceeds to do this for many many images... I wound up cancelling the sync because it kinda looked like it was about to try to match every single image I have hosted on smugmug to the images in my current LR catalog... most of which don't exist in my current LR catalog.

Not sure how to handle this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

here's what I'd recommend...note: you can try this by adding a second publish collection linked to the same SmugMug account into your catalog.

    1. create a new publish service instance
    2. select these settings....

    3. Click 'Save', this will sync your existing SmugMug hierarchy into the newly created publish service.
    4. Delete any category, subcategory or gallery from this publish service instance that are not going to be associated with this LR catalog making sure you select 'Leave on SmugMug'

    5. Once you have removed for unrequired categories, subcategories and galleries, right-click on the Publish Service instance and select 'Edit Settings'
    6. On the Publish Manager screen, select the following options (ie. uncheck 'Sync Hierarchy', check 'Sync Images')

    7. Click 'Sync Now', this will only sync the images for the galleries that now exist in the Publish Service instance.
    8. Once complete, click 'Save' and you're done
