No shotgun mate...just a fathers glare is all i need.
At lunch just yesterday a friend of mine was saying that when he met his now-wife's dad, he went over to the house and her father was sitting on the couch cleaning his gun.
Andy,
How sweet! She is such a natural beauty...I like the middle shot the best...but i tend to like up close and personal. The colors are beautiful and set off by the black sweater and colorful necklace..
:jawdropAnna is a very beautiful woman . As usual, your pictures show a lot of skills , and artistic composition .
I have some very picky comments:
There is something that I have noticed, which is that the scenes have a lot of contrast. The first pic seems a little bright - I'll go as far as to say that Anna's skin is a little too clear - but the dark part of the picture (the black sweater) has some discernable level of brigthness. By contrast, pic number two is just right, the skin tones are very good, but the sweater is just a uniform black patch (caveat: my monitor is up for calibration). Similar observations can be made for the last two.
Questions:
- were you trying to achieve a "high key" effect on #1 (skin is brighter on purpose, by choice of exposure, curve adjustement, ...) : ?
- which technique would you use to bring back a little detail on the sweater while preserving the contrast in the rest of the picture (I'm dealing with a similar situation right now with one of my pic ) ?
Thank you for sharing. I know about nothing about guns, so I can't help you there, but I can see why you'd need one (or two) .
Very beautiful girl, Andy. Only 14 you say? Life must be tense at times at your house. But, I still envy you. Daughters are a wonderful gift. I have two of them, so I know.
Very nice portraits too. All of them. I think you did a fabulous job on the skin tones considering you were working with that yellow background. I love the colors.

Andy, all very nice. Love the last one.
My 1st night was a tired, blackened fireman walking in late at night & looking at me sitting in front of the TV with his daughter & saying "Who the bloody hell owns the motorbike parked in front of the garage door !! "
We became the best of mates & laughed over that for many years. He died a few years back...i miss the old bastard.
Hi Folks, this is my daughter Anna. Canon 5D, Canon 85 f/1.8 on board. Gary Fong's LS-II on a 580EX at -1.67 for light light fill.

too funny, David - thanks for stopping, and looking!
Really great fall portraits of your daughter. I like the way you have that slight "angle" look to your portraits as well.
Being a father of three (now grown, thank God) daughters I can tell you, "Forget the shotgun. Get a cannon and a case of grenades and a few Claymores for the front yard won't hurt either."

Strange, she's beautiful but looks so much like you
Lovely shots andy!
The problem with shotguns, artillery and stares is that you have to be there for them to work. When you're not around they tend to have the opposite effect.
Man, she has just a really nice look. Love warmth to these images. I can totally see Bergen wearing that necklace someday. My favorites are 2 and 4, but 4 is definitely my favorite. It's just kind of subtly in your face. Can you be subtly in your face?
Nicely done!
Oh, and "Hi" Anna!

Did you send over that shotgun of yours mate? I'm tellin' ya, she's 14 going on 25 :uhoh
Andy andy andy.....
Shotgun screams threat.
Teenage boys like to defy threats
What you need is this.
Buy a kitana, lean how to use it (a few spins, quick move type things), Then display your new toys (a collection of kitana's and broadswords), then show the boy a few moves, maybe cut his hair with it, and let him see how sharp it is really close. Then tell him if he tries anything with your daughter you will remove his manhood without him even having to undo his pants.
That will put the fear into them. First guy my sister brought home almost wet himself (which he admitted to her after I left the room).
Andy with all your children it must be nice to know that no matter what happens in life you did at least one thing right or in your case 4 things. Beautiful photographs.
