Hi Y'all,

Being retired I have some free time. Fortunately the Viera Wetlands are a short drive from my house. This gives me something to do and keeps me off the street and out of trouble.

a ring-billed gull with its catch. Taken with the D3s and the 200-400 using the 3-D AF

We try to help the wildlife at the wetlands. We even put in road sign showing the birds up from down.

A grebe with high hopes. Yes, he did swallow the whole thing.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

...and again an awesome series. The first is an absolute winner in my book.

Harry, over and over you get these unbelievable shots. I like #1, but also the grebe. Your subjects are always well lit with eyes that stand out , they are usually doing something interesting as opposed to just standing around, your exposures are always spot on with lots of detail. I would love to be as consistent as you are. And what really is that up and down sign? I've never seen one quite like that? Thanks for giving the rest of us something to shoot for. Best, Pam

Thanks Dick. I usually don't do gulls but I made an exception with this one. I wasjust testing out the 3-D AF on a smalller and faster subject. He put on a pretty good show.

Thanks much Pam. I'm not all that consistent. However I'm a fantastic culler. Unless I'm very happy with a capture it gets deleted and no one ever sees it.

That sign is just a road sign showing that there's two way traffic. However I noticed that with the right perspective it looked like an up/down directional. So I just hung out a bit until a cooperative GBH came flying by.
