I finally got a Superb Fairy-Wren
A bit of a crook shot but i got him anyway.
He would be lucky to stand 1"1/2 & they are very flighty so i stood patiently in bare feet amoungst the scotch thistle (still digging the rotten stuff out of my feet) until i at least saw him stop still for a second.
Another Purple Swamphen
And some long distance shags (cormorants)
And finally a Red-Backed Fairy-Wren (cropped a lot as usual)
Uncropped different shot & at ..hmmm..maybe 30 feet away with the 400.

ginger (I don't know why the bird didn't fly when you lifted your lens back up. You must have worn the poor dear out. )

I was trying to get a shot of one of these last spring.....and didn't have a clue what it was. They are so flighty that it would have been difficult to even provide a description.
So...thanks for the education, Gus.
great to see some non-white birds :heh

What you folks lack in mammals, you sure make up for with your colorful birds Each one prettier than the next. That wren is really pretty. Hard little suckah to shoot too I bet. Tough coloring and I'm sure it doesn't let ya get too close either
I'm not going to ask why you had your shoes off and I won't even make a smart-ass remark about the difference in your meaning and mine regarding "long distance shag".......lol
I really do like seeing your birds pics. With Summer coming, I hope to see many more
