API for getting user's custom thumbnail crop?

Hey everyone,
I made a mod which can replace the gallery thumbnails with custom-sized photos, here's the mod thread:

The problem is that the custom-sized images obviously don't apply the user's chosen thumbnail crop, so the "thumbnails" end up being different aspect ratios. Is there a way of getting the thumbnail crop location using gallery.mg or one of the API calls? Or is it possible to request that a custom-sized image should apply the user's thumbnail crop?
