Any way to avoid uploading duplicates yet?

I checked on this a couple of years back and was told to use Star*Explorer, which is no good for me since I am a Mac user. For some reason selecting the "skip duplicates" option does not seem to do the trick for me, perhaps because I am trying to upload a lot of files and the upload has to be interrupted several times. Any thoughts? Thanks!

For the 'skip duplicates' to work, you'll need to close out of the uploader, then bring the uploader back up. This will refresh the files that already exist in the gallery and the uploader will now be able to detect the dupes.

Just drag all the files back over to the uploader after doing the above, and the uploader will only upload the new ones if you select 'skip' dupes.

It does not seem to work for me actually. I have a folder of 3500 images I need to upload and for some reason I always get "1007 warnings", i.e. SmugMug only "recognizes" 1007 files as duplicates even though there are already far more images than that in the gallery. Tried clearing caches but I still get 1007. After a few upload attempts I keep having to go into the gallery and deleting several copies of the same shot. All that makes it virtually impossible to make the upload happen. I fell like this should be easier... Can anyone help?
