Some Antarctic wildlife.

A little background first. I am now a month into what is my 4th deployment to Antarctica, specifically Palmer Station which is just off of the Antarctic peninsula. I'll most likely start up a thread in the journey's section at some point but figure for now this is as good place as any to show off some of the wildlife that lives around the station.

Up first is a picture of an Adelie penguin that was jumping from rock to rock making way to the edge of the water.

Next up are a few shots of Adelies arriving on a rocky shore.

Next up are a pair of Sheathbills, that were hanging out by the station pier.

And finally, at least for today, a lone Gentoo in the Palmer backyard area.

Most of the photos are from the past month or so. Thanks to a dead battery I missed out on getting a great picture of a super curious leopard seal this morning, but there is always next time. I am open to any questions or comments or even pointers or tips. Hopefully I can get out and get some more penguins while they are still around before Winter really starts.

your 4rd trip huh? You must like it there somehow.
I'm glad you like photographing and show us these great captures.
I think you handle the whites very well.

Thanks for the comments. I do enjoy my time spent in Antarctica. It is an extremely amazing place that is so much more then snow and ice. Not over exposing the whites while still having detail in the darker colors is one of the bigger challenges of photographing the penguins here.

Again these are just some of the photos from the past month.
