Took a walk last weekend around our local lake - and managed to find a pair of swans with their signets.

    This are really great captures. The one before the last is my favorite.
    If possible, try a lower angle next time.

    Not really, cam was way above water level ... if it's your local lake I'd stongly recommend looking for places where you can get as low as possible without getting in the water - although that's a possibility too, with suitable gear and surroundings.

    A good start is a shallow angle 'beach' /(concrete launch ramp for boats?) + beanbag ... and a cam with tilt LCD or anglefinder.

    Ymmv re what you make of the results, but it's worth trying imo :)

    Link shows one of the rigs I use, which puts 25 > 40mm of daylight under the lens hood.
