some kind of bee

well i took the son down by the marsh today to see what kind of insects we could find. i we came across this little guy, not sure what it is.



I took a lot of pics and im not to happy with most of them, there just a little blurry and i was using my mono pod because i find it easier to carry and i think it works better when doing this kind of macro. Can anyone give me some tips and if i need to i can post an example...thanks for looking..

Good capture - not a bee but i think a hoverfly.
Might need to see some example pics of the blurry photos.- does it look like missed focus or more like motion blur ?
It looks like you had a good shutter speed for this photo 1/640th which should be fast enough to stop motion blur, but the aperture is fairly open meaning you will have fairly narrow DOF and focus will be more critical.

agree with brian , a hoverfly. the petals are sharp so it does appear to be focusing. are u using auto focus? manual is the best way to shoot, move camera forwards/backwards and press shutter as the subjects head becomes in focus.
